A FPV drone from Ukraine’s 103rd Brigade destroyed a North Korean-made Koksan self-propelled howitzer that was being used by Russian forces.

The action was carried out by the “Chornyy Stryzh” Attack Drone Company and involved two drones: the first hit the front part of the vehicle without causing significant damage, while the second punctured the fuel tank, igniting a fire that led to the complete destruction of the system, even with the installed anti-drone protection.

This is the fourth confirmed loss of a Koksan in the war, with other units having already been neutralized by Ukrainian regiments specialized in drones and unmanned systems, such as the 412th “NEMESIS” Regiment and the 14th Unmanned Systems Regiment.

Reports indicate that Russia has received 120 of these artillery pieces from North Korea and expects to receive more units in the future.

The M1989 Koksan is a 40-ton self-propelled howitzer, equipped with a rare 170mm caliber and a range of up to 60 km with active-reactive ammunition. Its rate of fire is low, with 1 to 2 shots every five minutes, but its range exceeds that of most Russian artillery currently in combat, being comparable only to the old Soviet 2S7 Pion.
